World War II munitions discovered in Nowa Ruda and Płońsk

Multiple discoveries of World War II-era munitions have been reported in Poland during construction and agricultural work.

In Nowa Ruda, an excavator operator uncovered a corroded metal box containing approximately 200 pieces of ammunition near Piastów Street. Military sappers from Brzeg were dispatched to secure and remove the items.

In a separate incident in Płońsk, a farmer discovered over 700 dangerous items while working in a field. The collection included 271 pieces of small arms ammunition, 109 hand grenades, 56 detonators, 174 grenade launcher projectiles, and 100 other hazardous objects. Specialized sappers from Kazun handled the disposal of these materials.

Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious, reminding citizens that even after 80 years, unexploded ordnance remains lethal. Officials advise that anyone encountering such items should not touch or move them, but instead move to a safe distance and call emergency services immediately.
