Worldcoin token drops 10% after $52.5 million sale to Pantera Capital

The Worldcoin token (WLD) fell about 10% on July 25, trading near $0.34, after the World Foundation sold 217.4 million WLD to Pantera Capital and other institutional investors. The sale was executed at $0.2415 per token, a 29% discount to the market price, raising roughly $52.5 million. Each of the transferred tokens is locked for 12 months, limiting immediate resale pressure.

WLD has lost 97% of its value from its all‑time high and continues a long‑term downtrend. Simultaneously, the daily token unlock rate was cut by 43%, dropping from 5.1 million to 2.9 million WLD (about $1.1 million worth) per day. New use‑cases are emerging: Tinder announced expansion of its World ID verification to the United States, while Okta and Vercel are exploring integration of World ID into AI‑driven workflows. The network now reports nearly 18 million verified users and over 475 million identity checks since launch.
