WOWOW and NTT Docomo to form new company for Lemino streaming service
WOWOW and NTT Docomo have announced the establishment of a new company, planned as ‘WOWOW Lemino Co., Ltd.’, to jointly operate the video streaming service Lemino. The new entity is scheduled to be established on October 1, 2026, following a capital and business alliance agreement signed by both companies in June 2026.
The new company will be headquartered in Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Satoshi Suzuki of WOWOW is expected to serve as President, with Tomonori Tanaka as Vice President. The partnership aims to combine WOWOW’s content production and procurement capabilities with NTT Docomo’s extensive subscriber base and venue assets to enhance service value and drive business growth.
Content expansion will include UEFA Champions League football, the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis, over 100 WOWOW original dramas, and music live content. Beyond streaming, the companies plan to develop integrated digital and physical experiences, including exclusive content, early ticket sales, and limited merchandise, to foster fandom. They also intend to collaborate with creators and athletes to develop original intellectual property (IP) for both domestic and global markets.
