WOWOW and NTT Docomo Lemino joint venture

Overview

WOWOW and NTT Docomo have announced the establishment of a new joint venture, ‘WOWOW Lemino Co., Ltd.’, scheduled to launch on October 1, 2026. This follows a capital and business alliance agreement signed in June 2026.

The new entity will be owned 51% by WOWOW and 49% by NTT Docomo, with headquarters located in Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Leadership is expected to include Satoshi Suzuki as President and Tomonori Tanaka as Vice President. The partnership aims to leverage WOWOW’s content production and procurement expertise alongside NTT Docomo’s large subscriber base and distribution assets.

Strategic goals for the service include expanding content offerings in music, sports, and domestic dramas to reach 5 million paid subscribers. Specific content plans involve the UEFA Champions League, the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis, and over 100 WOWOW original dramas. The companies also intend to develop integrated digital and physical experiences, such as exclusive merchandise and early ticket sales, while collaborating with creators to develop original intellectual property for domestic and global markets.
