WRC returns to Paraguay for challenging gravel rally
The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) returns to South America for the Rally del Paraguay, hosted in the Itapúa region with Encarnación serving as the base. The event features 60 crews competing across 22 special stages totaling 358 kilometers, marking the longest course of the season.
Drivers face challenging conditions on red gravel roads, where weather plays a critical role. Rain and dust are expected to significantly impact grip and visibility. Toyota GAZOO Racing enters the event with strong championship contenders, including leader Elfyn Evans. Meanwhile, Sébastien Ogier continues his season despite a diminished mathematical chance of securing a tenth world title following a recent accident in Finland.
The rally is expected to provide a significant economic boost to the local region through increased activity in hotels, restaurants, and transport services, while offering international visibility for Paraguay.
