WRC Saudi Arabian Rally faces potential cancellation
The future of the Saudi Arabian Rally, scheduled for November 11–14 as the conclusion to the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) season, is uncertain due to security instability in the Middle East. The FIA is currently evaluating whether to cancel or replace the event, a decision that must be made soon to manage logistical requirements for competing teams.
If the rally is cancelled, two primary scenarios are being considered: finding a replacement round or ending the championship after 13 events, making the Rally of Sardinia the final stage. Potential replacement candidates include the Rally of the Six Cities in Portugal or the Rally of Catalonia in Spain.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has stated that a decision has not yet been finalized. While some teams and drivers have expressed concerns regarding the regional instability and potential conflict involving Iran, Ben Sulayem suggested that the situation should be monitored, noting that drivers often seek adventure but acknowledging the logistical complexities involved.
