Wrocław considers 900 million PLN sports complex near Tarczyński Arena
Wrocław authorities are considering the construction of a new sports and entertainment complex near Tarczyński Arena. The proposed project, estimated to cost 900 million PLN, would cover approximately 105,500 square meters and include a large hall capable of hosting over 24,000 concert attendees or 16,000 sports fans, alongside a smaller facility for training and local events.
The project aims to utilize a large vacant pit adjacent to the arena, a site left undeveloped following failed commercial projects in previous years. However, environmental concerns have emerged following research by the University of Wrocław, which confirmed the presence of protected amphibians, including the natterjack toad and various newts, in the area. Development may only proceed if environmental compensation and habitat restoration are implemented as directed by the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ).
