Wrocław to increase waste disposal fees and implement RFID monitoring

Starting in September 2026, residents of Wrocław, Poland, will face a 33 percent increase in waste disposal fees, bringing the monthly cost to 55 PLN per person. City officials noted that this rate remains below the statutory maximum of 70 PLN.

In addition to the price hike, the city is implementing new waste management technologies. The municipal company Ekosystem has announced tenders for six collection sectors. Under the new specifications, garbage trucks will be equipped with RFID identification systems, video monitoring, and scales to track waste volume and ensure proper segregation. The new system aims to increase oversight regarding the amount and quality of waste being disposed of by residents.
