Wrocław train services disrupted by WWII bomb disposal
Train services in Wrocław, Poland, are facing significant disruptions due to the discovery of a 250-kilogram World War II-era aerial bomb. The unexploded ordnance was found during excavation work on Kolejowa Street, near the Grabiszyn overpass.
To facilitate the bomb disposal operation, authorities have ordered the evacuation of approximately 3,000 residents within a 300-meter radius of the site. Sapper operations are expected to cause a suspension of rail traffic in the western part of the Wrocław Railway Node starting from 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 20.
Impacted routes include connections between Wrocław Główny and destinations such as Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Bolesławiec, Lubań, Zgorzelec, Krotoszyn, Rawicz, Wołów, and Trzebnica. Operators including Koleje Dolnośląskie and PKP Intercity have announced service changes, including the use of replacement buses for certain segments, such as the route between Wrocław Zachodni and Wrocław Główny.
