WRT Rally1 Spain recruits Dani Sordo for WRC27 development
RMC Motorsport is developing a new WRC27 car under the name WRT Rally1 Spain in collaboration with the Spanish motorsport federation, RFEDA. The project aims to introduce a new privateer team to the World Rally Championship.
Veteran Spanish driver Dani Sordo, who has 196 WRC starts and three victories, has been appointed as the development driver. Sordo will participate in rallies according to his preference. The vehicle will utilize an engine similar to the Citroën C3 Rally2 and Lancia Ypsilon HF, paired with an X-Trac gearbox.
Team principal Roberto Mendez stated that the car's body design is currently underway, with a goal to present the completed model within a month. Testing is expected to begin once the first chassis is assembled, with a potential competitive debut targeted for either the Rally of Croatia or the Canary Islands Rally.
