Jackson Bunch and Alyssa Spencer win WSL REMA 2026 in Saquarema

Jackson Bunch (Hawaii) and Alyssa Spencer (USA) claimed titles at the WSL REMA 2026 QS 6000 International held at Itaúna Beach in Saquarema, Brazil.

In the men’s division, Bunch secured the championship after defeating fellow Hawaiian Luke Tema in the final with a total score of 15.74 against Tema’s 11.34. Bunch’s path to the title included a semifinal victory over Australia’s Jacob Willcox. Peru’s Lucca Mesinas also reached the semifinals, finishing third.

In the women’s category, Alyssa Spencer won the title by defeating Spain’s Ariane Ochoa. Spencer recorded scores of 7.20 and 6.93 for a total of 14.13, while Ochoa finished with 10.06. Ochoa’s second-place finish significantly boosts her ranking as she pursues a spot on the Championship Tour. Brazilian surfer Sophia Medina finished third in the women’s division after a narrow semifinal loss to Spencer.

On the men’s side, Brazil’s Heitor Mueller was the highest-ranking local competitor, finishing in fifth place after reaching the quarterfinals.
