Wu Tzu-chia sues Ko Wen-je and Huang Kuo-chang over election law allegations

Wu Tzu-chia, chairman of Formosa Electronic News, has filed criminal complaints against nine individuals, including Taiwan People's Party (TPP) founders Ko Wen-je and Huang Kuo-chang, for alleged violations of the Public Officials Election and Recall Act.

The complaints stem from the breakdown of political cooperation between the Kuomintang (KMT) and TPP regarding the Zhubei mayoral race. Wu alleges that TPP members used terms such as “lying” and “breaking promises” to criticize KMT candidate Hsu Hsin-ying without providing concrete evidence, thereby attempting to influence the election outcome.

Wu released LINE chat logs suggesting that discussions regarding coordination were still ongoing as late as July, contradicting claims that a definitive agreement had been made and subsequently broken. He argues that the accusations against Hsu constitute “character assassination” and calls for judicial investigation into whether false information was spread to impact the election.
