Wyoming police arrest man after Sikh truck driver stabbed at rest stop

A Sikh truck driver survived a violent stabbing at the Bitter Creek rest stop on Interstate 80 in Wyoming. According to court documents, the victim was attacked from behind while using a restroom, sustaining multiple wounds to his neck, chest, and body.

Authorities arrested Andrew Kris Bzdak in nearby Carbon County following the incident. Video footage reportedly showed the victim entering the restroom followed by Bzdak, with the wounded victim seen stumbling out shortly after. A family at the rest area assisted in locating the suspect by following his truck and alerting police.

While the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department stated that a motive has not yet been established, community leaders expressed concern regarding rising anti-immigrant sentiment. Harsimran Singh, CEO of Gillson Trucking, noted an increase in anti-Sikh vitriol on trucking forums, linking the tension to recent debates over commercial driver’s licensing requirements.
