Wyoming Red Flag Warning Triggers Wildfire Precautions Amid Record Heat

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for critical fire danger across southeast Wyoming, citing hot, dry and windy conditions that could spark wildfires. The warning, effective through Wednesday evening, covers eastern Wyoming, the Nebraska Panhandle and southwestern Carbon County, and advises against outdoor burning and urges residents to stay alert for ignition sources.

State officials and local agencies have urged residents to prepare fire‑safe plans, clear vegetation, keep roofs and gutters clear, and have evacuation kits ready. Emergency alerts and apps are recommended for real‑time updates.

At the same time, a recent heat wave set all‑time high temperature records in parts of Teton County, with stations in Moran, Alta and Jackson reporting temperatures up to 101 °F. The extreme heat has begun to subside as monsoonal moisture from the Southwest moves into western Wyoming, bringing increased chances of showers and thunderstorms over the next two weeks.
