Xalapa property returned to elderly sisters after eight-year legal battle

Two elderly sisters, Yolanda and Margarita Roa, have regained possession of their property in central Xalapa, Veracruz, following an eight-year legal battle. The property is located at the corner of J. J. Herrera and Ignacio Allende streets.

The dispute began when the sisters leased the building to a tenant, identified as Enrique N or Enrique O. Ch., who allegedly failed to make agreed-upon payments and refused to vacate the premises. This led to legal actions involving claims of breach of contract and fraud. The sisters reported that the loss of rental income left them in a state of high vulnerability, affecting their primary source of economic support during a period of significant health challenges.

The formal restitution was executed by order of Judge Leopoldo Toss Capistrán of the Second Court of First Instance of the Judicial District of Xalapa. The judicial eviction process was carried out with the support of the Veracruz State Secretariat of Public Security to ensure order during the handover of the property to the rightful owners.
