Venezuela Supreme Court ratifies economic emergency extension
The Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) has ruled the constitutionality of Decree No. 5.443, which extends the State of Exception and Economic Emergency throughout Venezuela for an additional 60 days.
The ruling, issued by the nation's highest court, confirms that the measure taken by acting president Delcy Rodríguez adheres to Article 338 of the Constitution. The extension is intended to protect the national economy and productive sectors during extraordinary circumstances.
Under this decree, the Executive Branch maintains special powers to implement immediate financial and economic measures. Key objectives include protecting consumer purchasing power, stimulating non-oil production and exports, and ensuring resources for essential services such as the electrical and water systems.
