Xbox CEO Asha Sharma targets market leadership amid memory chip shortage

Xbox chief executive Asha Sharma has set a goal for the division to become the number‑one gaming and entertainment platform by 2030, moving the focus away from traditional margin targets. She announced a 100‑day business reset to address declining hardware sales and a global shortage of memory components, saying Xbox will subsidise DRAM and SSD chips despite the short‑term cost impact.

A Bloomberg report says Sharma also ordered the removal of a planned Halo: Campaign Evolved trailer from Sony’s recent State of Play presentation, a move that could strain the relationship between Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation. Neither company has commented on the decision.
