Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Definitive Edition set for July 2026 release

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Definitive Edition is scheduled for release on July 30, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Monolith Soft, the RPG follows the story of Rex, a salvager in the Cloud Sea, and his partnership with the Blade Pyra.

The Definitive Edition introduces several new features to encourage returning players. These include two new costumes for the characters Pyra and Mythra, a “Mercenary Assault” mode, and the addition of a new recruitable Gladius named MOMO (Multiple Observative Mimetic Organicus).

MOMO is a rare Light-attribute character, capable of transforming into a Shadow-attribute form, which can be unlocked through a specific mission involving the character Poppi and Tora’s house. The character serves as a crossover reference to the Xenosaga franchise.
