Xiaomi raises smartphone and tablet prices in Japan

Xiaomi has announced significant price increases for several smartphones and tablets, starting with the Japanese market. The company stated that it can no longer absorb the rising costs of components, specifically memory chips, within its own margins.

Among the most affected models is the Xiaomi 17T Pro, where certain configurations are expected to rise by approximately 108 euros. The POCO X8 Pro Max will also see substantial increases, with some versions rising by as much as 20,000 yen (roughly 120-130 euros).

The price adjustments are scheduled to take effect on September 1 for Xiaomi and Redmi brands, and September 4 for POCO devices. This move follows a broader industry trend where the high demand for AI-related chips has driven up the cost of RAM and storage components.
