Xiaomi Announces HyperOS 4 Launch and Expands Redmi Note 17 Series Globally

Xiaomi is preparing to unveil HyperOS 4 in early August. The update will feature a “zero legacy” architecture built with Rust and Flutter, removing old MIUI code and promising better stability, security and resource efficiency. The new system is expected to reduce performance degradation over time and improve mid‑range device experience.

The company also revealed several upcoming hardware models. A live‑action photo shows a next‑generation foldable, dubbed the MIX Fold 4/5, with a distinctive D‑shaped, 4:3 display, an in‑house XRINGO3 chipset, a 6,000 mAh battery, Leica‑co‑engineered optics and water‑dust resistance. Separate announcements cover the Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro, launched in China with 8,000 mAh and 9,000 mAh batteries, 120 Hz OLED panels, Android 16‑based HyperOS and flagship‑class cameras. A global variant of the Note 17 Pro spotted in export data lists shipments to Pakistan and Vietnam, offering 4 GB/64 GB and 6 GB/128 GB configurations and a slightly smaller 8,340 mAh battery.

Earlier this year Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 15 series in Nigeria, emphasizing a 6,000 mAh battery, AI features and competitive pricing, while a leaked Redmi 17 4G prototype focuses on a 7,500 mAh battery, MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra CPU and a 4G‑only design. In India, the Xiaomi 18 line is set for an early December launch with three models – Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max – after the Ultra variant was cancelled.
