Xiaomi expands in Chile as AI-powered smartphones see 24% sales jump in 2026

Xiaomi has solidified its position in the Chilean market, reaching roughly 20% of smartphone shipments and generating US$385 million in revenue for 2025. The company plans to open ten additional retail stores in 2026, extending its presence beyond phones to appliances such as vacuum cleaners, security cameras, and scooters.

Counterpoint Research reports that smartphones equipped with generative AI chips shipped 24% more units in the first half of 2026 than a year earlier. The growth occurred despite a 15% decline in overall smartphone chip shipments and a 300% surge in memory‑module costs, which now exceed processor prices. The premiumisation of the market is driving higher‑priced, AI‑enabled devices.
