Xiaomi implements stock buybacks and launches Redmi 17 series
Xiaomi is implementing a dual strategy of defensive stock buybacks and offensive price adjustments. The company recently purchased 1.862 million ordinary shares for approximately 49.95 million Hong Kong dollars as part of an ongoing program. Simultaneously, Xiaomi has raised prices on several smartphone models, including the flagship Xiaomi 17 series, to offset rising costs for RAM and flash memory components.
In the consumer market, Xiaomi has expanded its budget portfolio in Malaysia with the launch of the Redmi 17 series, including the Redmi 17, Redmi 17 5G, and Redmi A7. The Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9-inch 120Hz display, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, and a 7,500mAh battery. Prices for the new lineup in Malaysia start at RM 469 for the Redmi A7, while the Redmi 17 5G begins at RM 799.
