Xiaomi unveils Sky Nomad SUV series targeting family and outdoor market

Xiaomi announced the Sky Nomad series, an extended‑range electric vehicle (EREV) line of large SUVs aimed at families and outdoor enthusiasts. The first model, the N90, is a full‑size SUV about 5.3 m long with a 3.1 m wheelbase, offering five‑ or seven‑seat layouts. It combines a 70 kWh battery (400‑500 km electric range) with a 1.5‑litre turbocharged engine used solely as a generator, delivering over 1 500 km of total range. Built on Xiaomi’s new Kunlun architecture, the cabin is designed to be reconfigurable – seats, tables and a “living‑space” concept – allowing it to serve as a workspace, lounge or even a rooftop‑tent camping vehicle. CEO Lei Jun said, “They (car owners) want their car to be a second home. For them, a car is not merely a means of transport but another moving space.” The series expands Xiaomi’s auto business, which already includes the SU7 sedan and YU7 crossover, as the company seeks new revenue as smartphone growth slows. Xiaomi plans to launch the Sky Nomad in the Chinese mainland in the second half of 2026 and aims to introduce it to Europe the European market the following year.
