Xiaomi launches SkyNomad SUV family with up to 1,700 km range
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has introduced the SkyNomad series of large family SUVs, the N70 and N90 (including the N90 Max). The vehicles feature a flat‑floor Kunlun platform, configurable seating for five to seven passengers, rotating front seats, and a convertible‑to‑bed interior. They are powered by dual electric motors supplemented by a 1.5‑litre turbocharged gasoline engine that acts solely as a range‑extender, giving a claimed maximum range of 1,705 km (CLTC cycle) – about 1,190 km under EPA standards.
Pre‑order demand has been strong, with more than 100,000 reservations recorded within a week, helping Xiaomi aim for its annual delivery target of 550,000 electric vehicles. In China the N90 Max is priced at 299,900 yuan (≈38,000 EUR) and the N70 at about 33,400 EUR. The models are positioned as lower‑cost alternatives to premium European SUVs, and Xiaomi plans to bring the SkyNomad to European markets, including Germany, later this year.
The SkyNomad line also offers extensive tech and comfort features such as large infotainment screens, advanced driver‑assist systems, climate‑controlled massage seats, and optional camping equipment like a built‑in bed and table.
