Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 17 series with massive batteries and large OLED displays

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro smartphones in China on 14 July 2026. The standard Note 17 features a 7‑inch 120 Hz OLED panel, an 8 000 mAh battery with 45 W wired fast charging and 22.5 W reverse charging, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, a 50 MP rear camera, an 8 MP front camera, and IP65 water‑dust resistance. The Note 17 Pro uses a slightly smaller 6.83‑inch 1.5 K OLED display, a 9 000 mAh silicon‑carbon battery supporting 67 W fast charging and the same reverse‑charging capability, a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 SoC, the same 50 MP primary sensor, and a more robust IP68/IP69K rating protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Both models run Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 (based on Android 16), include in‑display optical fingerprint sensors and AI‑driven anti‑fraud features, and are sold in multiple colours. Pricing in China starts around 1 300 yuan for the Note 17 and 1 600 yuan for the Pro, with higher‑spec variants reaching up to 2 300 yuan. Speculation suggests the series may appear in India under the POCO M8 Power name, using similar hardware specs.
