Xiluo Qikan Martial Arts Carnival opens in Yunlin County

The 2026 Xiluo Qikan Martial Arts Carnival commenced on September 26 at the Sen-Huo Wu-Shu Park in Xiluo, Yunlin County. Under the theme ‘Martial Arts Moves Xiluo, Reflecting Qikan,’ the event aims to preserve and promote the region's century-old martial arts traditions.

The opening ceremony featured traditional rituals, including ‘worshipping ancestors and honoring masters,’ where disciples offered tea to their instructors to uphold the values of discipline and respect. Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan noted that martial arts education has been integrated into local primary and secondary schools to ensure the culture is passed down to younger generations.

Key activities of the carnival include a martial arts group competition for local students, a themed road run that attracted over 2,700 participants, and the introduction of AR and VR digital martial arts experiences. Additionally, the Xiluo Qikan Martial Arts Cultural and Educational Foundation released a new children's picture book, ‘Quan Mu,’ to introduce martial arts history to younger audiences.

A dedicated Xiluo Qikan Martial Arts Park, which broke ground in July, is expected to be completed in January 2028. The park will serve as a hub for martial arts education, cultural preservation, and tourism.
