Xiquets de Tarragona perform high‑level human towers in Basque Country festivals

The Xiquets de Tarragona marked the centenary of their colla by assembling several high‑level human towers (3‑7, 5‑7, 4‑7, 7‑7 and 4‑7 with needle) in the Basque Country. Their first performance took place at the square in front of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, followed by a second show during the Alonsotegi town festivities, with around 300 castellers travelling to the region.

Over the same weekend, casteller groups throughout Spain reported a surge in the construction of nine‑level towers and progress in the eight‑level gamma. Notable achievements included four 9‑level casts by Colla Vella, Castellers de Sants and other teams, as well as multiple 8‑level attempts by groups such as Joves, Barcelona, and Vilafranca. The season’s activity highlights the growing technical level of Catalan human‑tower building and its cultural exchange with neighbouring regions.
