XPeng launches L03 electric and range-extender models in Australia
XPeng is expanding its presence in Australia and New Zealand with the launch of the L03, a new vehicle lineup featuring both battery-electric and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options. Pre-orders for the five-seat model are scheduled to open on September 24.
The L03 lineup in Australia includes four variants. The battery-electric models range from a $41,900 RWD Standard Range to a $53,900 AWD Performance Ultra. The fourth variant, the PowerX Long Range EREV, is also priced at $41,900. This EREV model utilizes a 1.5-liter petrol engine that acts as an onboard generator via the Kunpeng Super Electric System to extend driving range to over 1,000 kilometers, rather than mechanically driving the wheels.
This strategic move toward range-extender technology is viewed as a response to intense price competition and margin pressures within the electrified vehicle market.
