XPENG launches world's first automated humanoid robot production line

XPENG has launched the world’s first high-end automated production line dedicated to general-purpose humanoid robots. During a recent launch event, the company announced that its IRON humanoid robot has successfully completed autonomous assembly and walked off the production line on its own two feet.

The IRON robot stands 178 cm tall, weighs 70 kg, and features 76 degrees of freedom, including 21 per hand. It is powered by three Turing AI chips providing a total computing capacity of 2,250 TOPS and utilizes the company’s second-generation VLA large model to support complex interactions and dialogue. The production line, located in Guangzhou, features an automation rate exceeding 80% for core processes and operates without traditional overhead conveyors, as the robots can move themselves.

XPENG aims to enter mass production by the end of this year, targeting a monthly capacity of over 1,000 units for initial commercial use in company stores and campuses. The company plans to launch the robot for the Chinese and overseas markets in 2027, with a long-term goal of reaching an annual production scale of 1 million units by 2030.
