Xpeng unveils Iron humanoid robot with autonomous assembly line exit

Chinese automaker Xpeng has unveiled its Iron humanoid robot, which has successfully demonstrated the ability to exit an assembly line independently. The company claims this milestone marks the completion of the production of the world's first advanced general-purpose humanoid robot.

Designed for both industrial tasks and daily human assistance, the Iron robot is equipped with three AI chips to provide high processing power and human-like agility. Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng stated the robot is intended to serve as a companion capable of performing tasks ranging from factory operations to preparing coffee.

The production process for the Iron robot is reportedly 80 percent automated, focusing on speed and stability for mass manufacturing. Xpeng aims to achieve mass production by the end of 2026, with a target market release in 2027. This development places Xpeng in direct competition with companies like Tesla, which has also targeted 2027 for the delivery of its Optimus robot.
