XRP Ledger processes over 13 million AI agentic transactions
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has reached a significant milestone in autonomous commerce, with agentic transactions—payments made by AI agents without human approval—surpassing 13 million across 166 x402 merchants. These automated payments, which cover services such as APIs, compute, and data, now account for approximately 25% of all activity on the ledger.
To support this growth, Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit to assist developers in integrating AI capabilities. The network utilizes the x402 payment protocol, allowing agents to settle micro-payments using XRP or Ripple’s USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD. While transaction volume and ledger activity have increased rapidly, market observers note that the price of the XRP token has not moved proportionally to this surge in network utility.
Technical features supporting this activity include fast transaction confirmation times of 3 to 5 seconds and fixed costs that allow AI agents to operate within predefined budgets without the need for gas auctions.
