XRP Ledger sets new transaction record in single block

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has reached a new milestone by processing a record number of transactions within a single block. According to Hussein Zangana, also known as Vet, a director at the XRPL Foundation, the network successfully validated up to 3,254 transactions in one ledger.

These high-volume bursts, which included multiple instances of over 2,000 transactions per ledger, were characterized as likely throughput testing rather than organic retail activity. The majority of the transactions involved ‘1-drop’ XRP payments, which are the smallest possible units of the currency and place a minimal load on the network.

Unlike the Bitcoin network, the XRPL utilizes an adaptive soft target for transaction capacity. This allows the network to increase its target if validators can close ledgers quickly, maintaining a preference for close times under five seconds. The record activity occurred without any reported slowdowns, disruptions, or validator issues. This surge follows the recent mainnet activation of the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment, which introduced various protocol fixes and upgrades.
