XRP Ledger surpasses 10 million x402 payments driven by AI agents

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has seen a significant surge in x402 payment activity, surpassing 10 million total transactions. This milestone was reached in less than three months after the network hit its first million payments.

Recent data indicates that activity is accelerating, with the seven-day average reaching between 350,000 and 500,000 payments per day. The growth is largely driven by AI agents utilizing the x402 protocol—an open payment standard that allows autonomous systems to process service usage and payments within a single web communication flow.

Much of this volume is attributed to AI agents paying for inference processing and data access. The ecosystem is expanding to include a wider range of services, such as financial data, risk assessment, and credit APIs. These transactions are settled using XRP and the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin. The XRPL AI Hub currently tracks over 12.7 million all-time transactions and includes 164 registered merchants, signaling the growing role of the ledger in the emerging machine-to-machine economy.
