Xunta de Galicia approves 1,800 new elderly care places

The Xunta de Galicia has approved a plan to create 1,800 new elderly care residential places through 24 new centers. This initiative utilizes a public-private partnership model, with the regional government guaranteeing that at least 60% of the new places will be of public ownership. The project involves 12 lots, each consisting of a main residence with over 100 places and a smaller satellite facility in a nearby municipality. The centers will be distributed across the provinces of A Coruña, Pontevedra, Ourense, and Lugo, specifically targeting municipalities with fewer than 25,000 inhabitants that currently lack public residential options.

In a separate regional development, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha has announced plans to repurpose the former Provincial Health Delegation building in Cuenca into rental housing. This follows the planned relocation of health services to the administrative building of the former Virgen de la Luz Hospital. The relocation, expected to be completed within two to two and a half months, is partly driven by structural issues with the current building's roofing.
