Xuxa Meneghel sues Andréa Sorvetão over property debt

Brazilian presenter Xuxa Meneghel has filed a lawsuit in Rio de Janeiro against former assistant Andréa Sorvetão to recover approximately R$ 26,289.68 in unpaid property expenses.

The legal action concerns an apartment in Recreio dos Bandeirantes that Xuxa had provided to Sorvetão and her family through a gratuitous loan agreement (comodato) signed in January 2020. While no rent was charged, the contract stipulated that Sorvetão was responsible for costs including condominium fees, property tax (IPTU), fire insurance, electricity, and gas.

According to the lawsuit, Sorvetão returned the property in April 2021, before the 48-month term ended, leaving outstanding debts. The current amount claimed includes interest and monetary correction.

Sorvetão has responded via social media, stating she has not yet received a formal summons. She claimed she attempted to negotiate the debt after being contacted by the property administrator in 2023, noting the amount was R$ 13,000 at that time. The legal dispute follows a public rift between the two long-time colleagues, which has been characterized by differing views on political and social issues.
