Brazilian presenter Xuxa Meneghel has filed a lawsuit in Rio de Janeiro against her former assistant, Andréa Sorvetão, to recover unpaid property expenses. The dispute involves an apartment in Recreio dos Bandeirantes provided to Sorvetão through a gratuitous loan agreement (comodato) signed in January 2020.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sorvetão was responsible for costs including condominium fees, property tax (IPTU), fire insurance, electricity, and gas. The lawsuit alleges that several installments went unpaid between February 2020 and April 2021, when Sorvetão departed the property. While the initial debt was approximately R$ 16,276.26, the updated amount claimed by Meneghel has reached roughly R$ 26,000 after interest and monetary correction.

Sorvetão and her husband, singer Conrado, have responded to the legal action. Sorvetão noted that she attempted to negotiate the debt in 2023, during which time her family faced financial hardships due to Conrado’s cancer treatment. She claimed she proposed a 22-month installment plan, but Meneghel’s team reportedly demanded payment in no more than two installments, preventing an agreement.

Conrado has criticized the legal move, calling Meneghel “vengeful” and suggesting the lawsuit is a personal attack rather than a simple financial matter.
