Xuxa Meneghel sues Andréa Sorvetão over R$ 26,000 property debt

Brazilian presenter Xuxa Meneghel has filed a lawsuit against former assistant Andréa Sorvetão to recover approximately R$ 26,000 in unpaid property expenses. The dispute concerns an apartment in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro, which Xuxa had provided to Sorvetão and her family through a gratuitous loan agreement (contract of commodatum) starting in January 2020.

The lawsuit alleges that Sorvetão failed to pay various costs, including condominium fees, property taxes (IPTU), electricity, and gas, between February 2020 and her departure from the property in April 2021. While the initial debt was roughly R$ 16,000, interest and inflation have brought the total to over R$ 26,000.

Sorvetão and her husband, singer Conrado, have publicly responded to the legal action. Sorvetão stated that she is aware of the debt and intends to resolve it, noting that her family faced financial hardships during Conrado’s cancer treatment. She claimed a previous attempt to pay the debt in 22 installments was rejected by Xuxa’s team, who demanded payment in no more than two installments. Conrado criticized Xuxa, calling her “vengeful” and suggesting the lawsuit is a personal attack rather than a simple financial matter.
