Yair Netanyahu evacuated from Miami following alleged Iranian threat

Israeli intelligence uncovered an alleged assassination plot targeting Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while he was residing in Hallandale Beach near Miami. Reports indicate that Iranian operatives may have been conducting surveillance on his residence and daily movements.

Following the intelligence alert, a significant security operation was launched to return Yair Netanyahu to Israel. The Israel Security Agency (ISA) coordinated an emergency evacuation, which included members of the security detail traveling from New York to Miami to assist. The departure was so abrupt that Yair Netanyahu reportedly left without his personal belongings, arriving in Israel on December 7, 2025.

While Prime Minister Netanyahu previously confirmed on Channel 14 that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons, specific details were previously restricted by military censorship. Colonel Ronen Cohen, chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Security of Dignitaries, described the incident as an attempted assassination that was neutralized at the last minute. Although the ISA acknowledged a ‘significant threat’ necessitated the move, they did not officially attribute the plot to Iran in their public statement.
