Yair Netanyahu targeted in alleged Iranian assassination plot in Florida

Yair Netanyahu, the eldest son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was reportedly the target of an Iranian assassination plot while living in South Florida, according to reports citing U.S. law enforcement sources.

The alleged plot was uncovered in late 2025 while Yair Netanyahu was residing in Hallandale Beach, near Miami. Intelligence indicated that Iranian operatives were in the Miami area and had been conducting surveillance on his residence and movements. Following the discovery, Israeli authorities alerted American counterparts, and Yair Netanyahu was instructed to leave Florida immediately, reportedly returning to Israel without collecting his belongings.

Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed in a recent interview that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons, though he did not initially name the individual. The incident has prompted the Knesset Ministerial Committee for Israeli security to approve extended personal protection for the Prime Minister’s immediate family, including his wife, Sara, and his sons, Yair and Avner.
