Cagliari forward Yael Trepy recovers after near-drowning accident

Yael Trepy, a 20-year-old French forward for Cagliari Calcio, is recovering after a near-drowning accident in a swimming pool in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. The incident occurred on a Sunday when the player reportedly lost consciousness in deep water.

Following the accident, Trepy was airlifted to the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Sassari, where he was placed in a medically induced coma and required mechanical ventilation due to respiratory complications from aspiration. Medical officials, including Intensive Care Director Stefania Milia, confirmed that the player has since emerged from the coma, regained full consciousness, and shows no apparent neurological deficits.

Trepy has been transferred from the intensive care unit to the pulmonology department for continued monitoring of his respiratory status. He has already begun physiotherapy and has expressed gratitude to his medical team by gifting them personalized Cagliari jerseys. Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini credited the rapid response of emergency services for preventing a potentially fatal outcome.
