Yamaha launches electric truck pilot in São Paulo, cutting CO₂ emissions

Yamalog, the logistics arm of Yamaha Motor Brazil, began a pilot project using a 100% electric Volkswagen e‑Delivery 11 truck for last‑mile deliveries in the São Paulo metropolitan area. The vehicle can travel up to 230 km on a charge and carry up to 45 m³ or 3.5 t of cargo, delivering motorcycles and outboard engines to Yamaha dealers.

In its first month of operation the electric truck avoided roughly 906 kg of CO₂ and reduced charging costs by about 30% compared with a similarly sized diesel truck. Drivers also reported lower noise levels. Yamaha aims to have 20% of the vehicles used in the capitals where it operates electrified within three years, with plans to expand the program to other urban centres.

The initiative is part of Yamaha’s broader strategy to decarbonise its logistics network and improve operational efficiency as electric‑vehicle infrastructure and costs evolve.
