Yamaha launches the FZ Blue Flex flex‑fuel motorcycle in India

Yamaha Motor India has introduced the FZ Blue Flex, its first flex‑fuel motorcycle capable of running on ethanol blends from E20 up to E85. The 149 cc, air‑cooled single‑cylinder engine delivers 8.6 kW (≈11.7 hp) and 12.8 Nm of torque on ethanol, slightly lower than the petrol‑only version’s 9.1 kW and 13.3 Nm.

The model is priced at ₹1,24,240 (ex‑showroom) in Delhi, positioning it above the standard FZ’s starting price of ₹1,14,760. It retains the familiar design with LED headlamp, full‑digital console, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS, and alloy wheels, while adding ethanol‑compatible fuel lines, revised engine mapping and ECU calibration.

The launch aligns with India’s policy push for cleaner, domestically produced fuels to cut oil imports and emissions. Yamaha joins other manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp and Suzuki in expanding the country’s E85‑compatible vehicle pool. Initial availability is limited to select Blue Square dealers in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, with broader rollout expected as ethanol infrastructure expands.
