Vietnam considers mandatory ABS for most vehicles

Vietnam is considering new technical regulations that would make Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS) mandatory for most vehicles. Under a draft replacing QCVN 09:2024/BGTVT, M-group passenger vehicles (including sedans, SUVs, and buses) and N-group freight vehicles (ranging from light trucks to heavy goods vehicles) would be required to be equipped with ABS, with the exception of vehicles with five or more axles.

Additionally, the draft proposes that sleeper buses must be equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or an equivalent system. Currently, only sleeper buses are strictly required to have ABS under existing standards.

In related automotive news, Yamaha has released an updated Fazer YS150 for the Chinese market. This version features significant safety upgrades, including a dual-channel ABS system paired with Nissin brake calipers, full-LED lighting, and an LCD VA instrument cluster, while retaining the 149cc Blue Core engine.
