Mexico hosts various regional cultural festivals and heritage showcases
Various cultural initiatives and festivals are being organized across Mexico. In Mexico City, the 'Quintana Roo en Los Pinos' festival is showcasing Maya heritage, featuring traditional cuisine, crafts, music, and dance at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa inaugurated the event, which includes participation from over 160 artisans and cooks.
In Veracruz, the XXIX Huasteca Festival will take place in Álamo from October 15 to 18, with preparatory activities in Tuxpan and Poza Rica. The festival highlights the cultural wealth of the Huasteca region, focusing on the role of women in preserving traditions such as music, indigenous languages, and traditional medicine. Additionally, the XXXIII International Afro-Caribbean Festival was inaugurated in Yanga to celebrate Afro-Mexican roots, with further activities scheduled for the city of Veracruz.
Other regional updates include the election of José Luis Covarrubias González as the virtual king of the 2027 Veracruz Carnival, and training sessions organized by SECVER to assist artists in applying for the 2027 PECDA cultural funding projects.
