Yangpyeong County announces major residential infrastructure overhaul

Yangpyeong County is launching a comprehensive initiative to overhaul its residential environment, focusing on water supply, energy, transportation, and safety infrastructure.

To ensure stable water access, the county plans to transition the management of 169 small-scale water facilities to a direct county-run system. A 22.6 billion won investment will be used to install 23.36 km of water pipelines and 10 pressure stations in areas like Gangsang-myeon and Yongmun-myeon to prevent shortages. Additionally, a 60 billion won rural-friendly fuel cell power plant will be established in Jipyeong-myeon to expand the city gas network.

Urban development is centered on the Guksu and Jipyeong station areas. Guksu Station will be developed into an eco-friendly residential zone, while Jipyeong Station will serve as a growth hub to promote balanced development between the eastern and western regions. Transportation improvements include a 19.6 billion won project to connect Yangdong-myeon and Jipyeong-myeon via road widening and new tunnel construction.

Safety measures will also be prioritized, including the renovation of aging sidewalks in Gangsang-myeon and Gaegun-myeon, and the replacement of safety fences and installation of streetlights near schools in Yongmun-myeon to ensure secure commuting routes for students.
