Yankees beat Guardians 2-1 behind Rodón and McMahon

The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians 2–1 on Thursday at Yankee Stadium. Starting pitcher Carlos Rodón allowed one run and two hits over six innings, striking out seven. In the seventh inning, Jazz Chisholm Jr. tied the game with a sacrifice fly and then stole second, advancing to third on a wild pitch before Ryan McMahon delivered the go‑ahead single that scored Chisholm.

Relievers Brent Headrick, Fernando Cruz and David Bednar closed out the game for the Yankees. Aaron Boone noted that star Aaron Judge remained sidelined with a bruised rib and shoulder pain, awaiting further medical evaluation. Cleveland’s starter Slade Cecconi also worked six innings, allowing one run and four hits.
