Yaqut Cholil Qoumas faces trial over Hajj quota corruption
Former Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas appeared for his first trial at the Jakarta Central District Court on August 11, 2026, regarding the alleged corruption of the 2023–2024 Hajj quota.

Furthermore, the prosecution alleges that Yaqut enriched himself by approximately Rp4.8 billion (USD 271,500) through these irregularities. The scheme reportedly benefited 313 PIHK corporations. During the hearing, Yaqut noted he was recovering from recent surgery for a fistula ani but expressed his readiness to proceed with the legal process.
