Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Hospitalized After KPK Grants Medical Parole

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) approved a medical parole for former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, allowing him to be transferred to the Police Hospital Kramat Jati in East Jakarta. The decision was made after doctors reported severe gastrointestinal problems, fever and overall deterioration in his health.

His wife, Eny Retno Yaqut, thanked the KPK and the medical team, saying the move was necessary given his worsening condition, which included constipation, abdominal pain, nausea and chills over the preceding weeks. She expressed hope for his recovery and gratitude for the support received.

Yaqut has been in KPK custody since 12 March 2026 as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in the 2023–2024 Hajj quota allocation, which auditors estimate could have caused state losses of about 622 billion rupiah. The detention was previously shifted to home arrest before returning to the KPK detention facility and later to hospital care. Further medical examinations, including blood tests and MRI, have been ordered.
