Yaroslavl oil refinery hit by drone attack

A drone attack targeting the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, has caused a fire at the facility. Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevraev confirmed that the fire has since been extinguished, though the full extent of the damage to the plant remains unknown.

The refinery, located approximately 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow, is owned by Slavneft and operated jointly by Rosneft and Gazprom Neft. It has a processing capacity of 300,000 barrels per day, or 15 million tons annually. Following the attack, reports indicate that the plant has halted oil processing at two of its three crude oil distillation units.

This incident follows previous drone strikes on the facility in August, which also forced a temporary suspension of operations. The attack occurs amidst discussions regarding an energy truce between Russia and Ukraine, though neither Moscow nor Kyiv has officially confirmed an agreement to cease strikes on energy infrastructure.
