Yavatmal Ferris wheel accident leaves woman with severe scalp injuries

A 25-year-old woman, identified as Bali Maroti Talikote, sustained severe scalp and head injuries after her hair became caught in the rotating bearing of a Ferris wheel in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district.

The accident occurred during the Tanha Pola festival at a fair organized near the Puneshwar Mahadev temple in Mahagaon taluka. As the ride was spinning at high speed, Talikote’s hair was pulled into the moving mechanism, causing her scalp to be torn.

Local residents and police personnel, including Assistant Police Inspector Sunil Ambhure and Constable Suhas Kayte, intervened to stop the ride and assist the victim. Talikote was subsequently transported to a private hospital in Pusad for medical treatment.
